The most popular floor covering is considered to be parquet board. It is made of natural wood - several layers of wood are glued into a single parquet plank. The material has earned many positive reviews: in terms of characteristics, it is better than other types of floors. But, like all materials, modern parquet has its own characteristics.
Parquet board and technology of its manufacture
The board is made from layers called lamellas. It can be of different thickness and consist of several types of wood material. The upper lamella is a decorative layer, which is usually made from valuable wood species. It is he who we see after laying this material.
The degree of durability of a parquet board is determined by the thickness of the decorative layer: the larger it is, the longer the floor covering will serve you. The standard figure should be at least 3 mm. All other components of a parquet board are technical layers. For their manufacture, fast-growing wood species are most often used.
The multi-layered flooring is the best guarantee of its resistance to temperature extremes and changes in humidity levels. The parquet board has good performance characteristics, as well as aesthetic appearance.
Types of parquet boards
It is customary to distinguish between one-, two-, three- and four-strip parquet boards. Each of them is unusual and practical in its own way. Plank 1-strip flooring is most often used for large rooms. The basis for such a floor is usually coniferous tree species. For the production of single-strip parquet boards, relatively wide strips of high quality wood material are taken.
Two-strip parquet boards combine two planks of sufficiently large width, which can be mounted in strips (solid) or in modules (separately). In most cases, this material is used for installation in rooms with a Classic style interior. A parquet board of this type will visually complement a large room.
Three-strip boards are the most common type. They exactly repeat the popular pattern of classic parquet, and are ideal for any type of room. The width of this parquet board can be between 19-20.8 cm.
In most cases, four-strip parquet boards are made from wood waste. The stripes of such a coating are quite narrow, so their appearance is unnecessarily lurid. Therefore, this flooring is best suited for cottages.
Advantages of parquet boards
A parquet board is not only a beautiful but also a practical floor covering. Among its main advantages it is worth noting:
the possibility of laying in places where humidity is high or low;
the possibility of self-laying flooring;
easy maintenance of the floor covering;
the durability of the product is ensured by impregnating its surface with a special composition;
flexibility and resistance to environmental conditions;
the ability to dismantle and replace a damaged board without harming other boards;
variety of colors and textures.
The parquet board also has features. These include the inadmissibility of curly laying of the floor covering, as well as the need for special preparation of the floor before installation. The density of the connection depends on the quality of the fastening locks of the parquet board.
All these features that are assigned to a parquet board are easily leveled by its functionality and practicality. If you want your flooring to delight you for years to come, you should definitely take a responsible attitude towards proper styling and proper care.
